Ive just found PT after reading an article in the RLA. I am about to sell a flat which I have been renting out very successfully for the last ten fifteen years; never any empty periods, or tenant problems. The property is in need of updating but I don't have the funds or the income.
I am 56 and due to change in circumstances I work in a low paid job which prevents me from further borrowing. I still have a 50k mortgage, but if I sell, I will still own a flat outright and have a cash surplus to either reinvest but not enough to buy anything outright. I cannot get funding from the bank to update the property as my income is too low s figure that it is best to get out now before an asset becomes a liability.
It feels like a bad move to sell an asset which effectively pays for itself but I don't know what to do ? I am almost at exchange of contracts - will never get another mortgage and feel like this is the end? If anyone has any advice please give it. I woudl really rather grow my money than downsize but I dont know how to do this. All serious suggestions welcomed. Thanks for reading this.
